Photovoltaics, in particular, are emerging as a key driver of this growth. According to the IEA, around 80% of the increase in renewable energy will come from solar power — both from large-scale solar farms and rooftop installations on homes and commercial buildings.

We view these developments as a strong validation of our investment strategy. The transition to renewable energy is not only a climate necessity but also an economic opportunity. Countries like China and India are aggressively expanding their solar capacity – supported by regulatory incentives, government subsidies, and growing demand.

The U.S. market is also gaining momentum: the Inflation Reduction Act has triggered a solar boom across the country. In 2023 alone, approximately 32 GW of new solar capacity was installed – a 70% increase over the previous year. Notably, the growth is not limited to large-scale solar farms; businesses and homeowners alike are turning to self-generation solutions. Data centers and industrial facilities are increasingly investing in on-site solar systems.

For companies in our Green Tech Portfolio, this opens up significant growth opportunities in photovoltaics, energy management, grid infrastructure, and storage solutions – not only in Asia, but also across the United States and Europe.

However, the IEA also emphasizes that expanding renewable capacity alone is not enough. Solar and wind energy are inherently variable – making robust grids and advanced storage systems essential to ensure a reliable power supply. This is precisely where many of our portfolio companies are focused. They are developing intelligent grid management systems, battery and hydrogen storage solutions, and integrated sustainable energy platforms.

In the U.S., for example, battery storage is gaining strong interest among institutional investors, given its crucial role in grid stability and load flexibility.

Conclusion
The global shift toward clean energy is accelerating – faster than many had predicted. For long-term investors, this transformation presents compelling opportunities that go far beyond short-term market cycles. With our Green Tech Portfolio, we are investing in companies that are shaping this transition – technologically advanced, economically sound, and ecologically impactful.
